Course Aims
Delegates will be able to:
• demonstrate their ability to correctly interpret the Rule Book GE/RT 8000 Series or Guide to Personal Track Safety or PTS Key Point Card NR9922 and relevant local instructions when required to go on or near the line.
• Demonstrate their understanding and ability to follow a Safe System of Work.
• If DCCR competence is held, this will be recertificated at the same time as the PTS recertification

At the end of this course the delegates will be: -
• Fully conversant with requirements of the relevant parts of the Network Rail Track Safety Handbook and all relevant local instructions.
Pre Requisite Requirements
The following pre-requisites are required for this course:-
1. Be a minimum age of 16.
2. Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements
3. Make necessary arrangements for Knowledge Assessments to be read to support those who have difficulty with reading.
4. Meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
5. Must have sufficient entries recorded in their Workplace Experience logbook. Each entry must be signed by the COSS including the safe system of work and the COSS Sentinel number. This will be checked via the Sentinel database. The delegate's line manager must have countersigned the logbook twice in 24 months and signed Section 3 of the Logbook.
6. Have sufficient command of English language, and of the English language as detailed in Network Rail Company Specification NR/S/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety)
PPE Requirements
This course is classroom based and therefore no PPE is required.
Certification
No Certificate. This competency is valid for 2 years and will be recorded on the Sentinel database. Candidates who are required to work adjacent to DC lines must hold a DCCR competency which is a separate module in addition to PTS.
