Site Warden Initial

Course Aims

This course is intended to provide a delegate with the skills, knowledge and behaviours to carry out the duties of a Site Warden.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course the delegates will: -
• To understand and demonstrate core Site Warden duties under an approved Safe System of Work
• Understand and demonstrate the Site Warden’s responsibilities in maintaining a Safe System of Work
• To demonstrate understanding of non-technical skills required for being a good Site Warden

Pre Requisite Requirements

Delegates must be in possession of:
1. Be a minimum age of 18
2. Must hold a valid track safety sentinel card endorsed with SW and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 Competence and Training in Track Safety
3. Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements
4. Meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
5. Delegates cannot attend if their Sentinel card is endorsed that they must be accompanied
6. It is the responsibility of the delegates sponsor to decide upon their suitability to attend this course in accordance with competence requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021

PPE Requirements

This course requires the delegate to be on or near the running line, therefore, they MUST be in possession of: -
• A Valid Sentinel Card
• Protective “all orange” high Visibility Clothing to BS EN 471
• Safety Footwear to BS EN ISO 20345
• Safety Helmet (white/blue) to BS EN 397
• General Purpose Gloves to BS EN388
• Safety Glasses BS. EN.166 and of Optical Class 1 with Impact Resistance F

Certification

No Certificate. This competency is valid for 2 years and will be recorded on the Sentinel database. NOTE Delegates must complete Site Warden duties on at least four occasions within 12-months following the initial training. Post Training Development Workbook must be completed and signed by both the individual and sponsor.
