Course Aims
Awareness of Track Infrastructure is a technical course, predominantly aimed at Siding/Depot staff who work around the track often but don’t have an in-depth knowledge of it. There is a focus around faults and how to spot “red flags” before they cause accidents.

Introduces delegates to what “track” is
In-depth look into each component and part that makes up the track (i.e. formation, track components, rails etc.)
A look into typical track layouts, for example jointed track VS. CWR, as well as plain line VS. S&C
An introduction to track faults and why/how they develop
An in-depth look into common track faults and their specific characteristics
A brief session on handpoints
When to take action against faults (reporting and actioning faults)
Pre Requisite Requirements
There are no particular educational or competence pre-requisites required for this course.
Certification
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to the delegate upon successful completion of the course. Certification has no expiry.
