Course Aims
This assessment is intended to reaffirm the delegate’s competence to be considered for the duties of Raising and Removal of Speed Restrictions (TR12 & TR13) in accordance with the current Network Rail Standards, Track Work Instructions and Track Engineering Forms. The assessment require to be carried out annually, on years 1 & 2 of the competence, to reaffirm the delegate's competence. On year 3 of competence, a recertification would be required.

• Be able to demonstrate by written assessment an underpinning knowledge of the requirements of Raising and Removing Temporary Speed Restrictions
• Be able to demonstrate the practical skills associated with the Raising and Removing of Temporary Speed Restrictions
Pre Requisite Requirements
The following pre-requisites are required:
• Hold a valid and current Track Handback competency certificate. The delegate is required to evidence through TEF3203 (A-G's) carrying out 4 Handback duties in the last 12 months.
• For any standard changes, it is the sponsor's responsibility to inform the delegate on any changes and for the delegate to be suitably prepared for the theory and practical assessments to take place against the new standard. A brief recap/overview will take place on the new standard before the assessments begin but will NOT involve any training on this.
PPE Requirements
This course requires the delegate to be on or near the running line and therefore, they MUST be in possession of:-
• Valid P.T.S. Card
• Protective “all orange” High Visibility Clothing to ISO 20471
• Safety Footwear to BS EN ISO 20345
• Safety Helmet (white/blue) to BS EN 397
• General Purpose Gloves to BS EN388
• Safety Glasses BS EN166 and of Optical Class 1 with Impact Resistance F
Certification
A letter of confirmation will be sent confirming annual assessment has been successfully completed. A new competency card will NOT be issued, this only applies to the initial and recertification courses.
