Duration

120 minutes

Learning Objectives

What you need to know
A basic understanding of first aid is essential for any member of staff working within a construction environment.

Understanding basic first aid awareness will assist construction workers in developing the skills that are needed when first aid is required. This includes how to assess the scene of an incident and provide basic first aid if necessary.

Operatives working on construction sites face many potential risks including cuts, abrasions, fractures and injuries associated with common high-risk activities such as manual handling and working at height. This course provides guidance on:

  • Assessing and handling a situation
  • Safe handling of unconscious people
  • Heart attacks
  • Fractures
  • CPR
  • Minor and heavy bleeding

Certification

Please note - this course isn’t designed to qualify individuals in the practical application of first aid, but to provide guidance on how to handle an incident which may require first aid knowledge and an understanding of how to support those who need urgent medical attention.
