What is mental health first aid?
Mental health first aid is about being able to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health illnesses and guiding an individual towards the right support.
The course is designed to educate learners and to help reduce the stigmatisation of mental illness in the workplace.
Passing the assessment, enables learners to be designated as the Mental Health First Aider for their organisation. The course modules include guidance on:
- What is First Aid for mental health
- Identifying mental health conditions
- Providing advice and starting a conversation
Learners gain knowledge in recognising the signs and signals of mental health conditions; understanding how these conditions may affect colleagues, other site workers and the general public; and how to provide initial support and guidance.
